In fact, in those days, TV was considered a smaller medium than films and hence Jaya Bachchan was worried that TV shows might take away Amitabh Bachchan’s larger than life persona as a film actor. Jaya Bachchan was worried that Big B’s image would be tarnished by appearing on TV.

He also said that Big B got a lot of popularity and love from the show. But, she also revealed that she never wanted her to host the show. She had said, “Can you imagine that I never wanted him to do this? Somehow I felt that confining him to the small screen was not right somehow.”
